There is a special election going on in New Mexico for the CD-1 seat, which encompasses most of Bernalillo County, all of Torrance County, and pieces of Valencia, Sandoval, and Santa Fe Counties. If you live in any of them, please get out and let your voice be heard.

The candidates are

Polling locations will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Voters may vote in person at any of the locations within their registered county. Voters who have requested an absentee ballot may also return their sealed absentee ballot to a polling location within their registered county, no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Night.

 If you’re not registered to vote you can utilize same day registration at the Bernalillo County Clerk’s Office.

Same Day Registration

For the special election in Congressional District 1, you can register to vote or update your existing registration and vote on the same day at your County Clerk’s Office.

Some County Clerks will offer additional same day voter registration locations beginning on Saturday, May 15, 2021.

Section G of 1-4-5.7 outlines the types of items a qualified elector should bring with them to utilize SDR (one of the following):

(1) a New Mexico driver’s license or New Mexico identification card issued through the motor vehicle division of the taxation and revenue department;

(2) any document that contains an address in the county together with a photo identification card; or

(3) a current valid student photo identification card from a post-secondary educational institution in New Mexico accompanied by a current student fee statement that contains the student’s address in the county.”
